Hard Lessons

Happy is the man with no dog for the memory of 'no' walks obediently beside him and that absence needs no leash. Happy is the woman betrayed, divorced from her long delusions. Her aloneness sings now in her heart, she learns to enjoy the hunger it feeds her strength. Sad is the person who clings, who chases moonbeams with butterfly nets. Sad the person who's 'wants' outrun their needs, for their lamp may shrink, become so small and hard to see.
