Happy New Year

At midnight, surrounded by those who are dear,
Countdown is over; champagne has been chilled
The bells are now ringing...a Happy New Year!
Bottles are popping, the glasses are filled
We’re singing together with hugs and a tear.

Such a endearing poem, Paul. The last line was so poetically sublime ... we're singing together w/a hugs and a tear. That says it all: tears of joy is a beautiful co-joined emotion. Wonderful poem, my friend. I really like this poetry form. I think I can excel in Quintain (Sicilian.) Love and joy, brother.

Thank you, Freddie. While it is lovely to celebrate together, I can't help feeling guilty when remembering those who are less lucky than us. Best regards, my friend. // paul

New Years always makes me tear up.....either for the memories and the singing of "Auld Lang Syne"

I wrote two poems for this contest, then opted for this one; Auld Lang Syne was mentioned in the other which I omitted (was not too happy with the meter). Thanks for stopping by. // paul

Everyone should experience this joyous kind of ringing in the New Year at least once in their lifetime. I had one new year like this, and I will remember it forever. Thank you for causing that sweet memory to return Paul. Have a wonderful New year!6

I really get irritated with the Captcha....that is why you have a 6 after my comment on your poem Paul. Often when replying on my kindle it will start printing the message code after my remarks. I thought I erased it and put it in the right box but the 6 was left over. That happens all the time. Your poem is a #7 Hugs, Connie
