Notes About The Poem

Happenstance

Under the spell of Autumn and twilight
we encounter a pair of deer

their delicate forms
in soft shades of grey
poised for flight
a still life

We linger, transfixed until instinct
overtakes, and they flee.

All we take is a memory.

A lovely picture of an autumn afternoon, your verse, and that last line especially, as graceful as the deer~
