Is it the same in Hale Ewa Where the bars are slow to wind Are the regulars still clever As they chatter in the kind Is the Alawai still flowing With giant frogs still growing To the ever pounding Same resounding surf Is Kaiser pink still covering The Royal Hawaiian Hotel Does the tiki bar still spin Or is it all skyscrapers and the sun just can’t get in? Fifty years and counting Since I stepped upon the sand In baggy shorts and go aheads Aloha shirt aflapping With tomorrow looking grand
