Selene, the goddess of the Moon (amongst others), was responsible each night to drive her chariot across the sky, dragging the moon behind her. Over time, this Greek mythological figure became associated with perfection and excellence, giving rise to the idiom Hanging the moon.
Hang the Moon
She bowled me over with the diamonds in her eyes,
capturing my heart with an enigmatic smile.
She definitely hangs the moon.
She thought she was hanging the moon
as her botoxed smile froze my heart
and the chipped-glass glint in the eyes repelled me.
