Ham

A timeless cloud 
embraced me
and on the other side
reality was softened by
morphine's laughing eye
surprise didn't strike me
I did gradually ingest
that that ham 
that hung before me
was my femur
very smashed.

I know this poem is about your accident, but it comes across in a theatrical way as if a dark comedy, but I'm not laughing. Ingesting the idea that that flesh is yours makes me grimace a bit, but now I'm not on sister morphine. I guess the best way to say it is that this poem has that doped up dream quality. I'm in awe.
