Halloween
black trees reach into the moonless night
creaking in October' s chilly wind
brown leaves scutter along the walk
scraping as they go
the devil doers are about tonight
only the foolish venture far
in the windows candles gleam
with safety and warmth inside
a black cat screeches a mournfull wail
sending shivers down my spine
yellow eyes and hissing fang
follow me as I pass
through an iron gate I flee
mindless of where I go
from the lifting mist I find
a graveyard of living dead
strange creatures circle about me
garmets floating on the air
features carved in evil grin
glowing hollow pumkin heads
suddenly I sit up with a start
relieved it was only a dream
quickly back under the covers
remembering it's Halloween
