windblown skittering across the quick frozen pond pirouetting leaves Survivalist's toast whiskey in a Dixie cup spirits on the prowl sunrise de-icing geese rising upon the wind silence coats the pond a squirrel peeks out of the Jack-o-Lantern's nose an orange moustache a snake moves slowly across the cooling pavement hawks answer last call the tree limbs tremble leaves blanket the homeless no bedtime story ice clutches the pond as dark shadows creep nearer a distant bell tolls John G.
