Guts and Gain Trap

If you're willing to put yourself out there
If you are truly ready for the fight
Do not expect unicorns and sunshine
More likely you'll get bruises black as night

We're told that with guts we'll find the glory
If a few chances we're willing to take
But if we don't take some time for thinking
A whole lot of wrong decisions we'll make

You can't always count on your will power
In the end it can turn you upside down
Cutting loose every coin from your pocket
Causing your smile to turn into a frown

True gain comes from proper preparation 
Steady forward and never standing still
If you don't make friends with thoughts of failure
You are more likely to stand on the hill

Be sure the value of what you're wanting
Is it worth the sacrifices you will make
If it doesn't require you giving
In the end it's just a gutsy mistake!
