I’m just a little goby and I swim above the sand
I’m glad to live beneath the waves and not upon the land
I hear there’s cats and birds up there that love to dine on fish
So as a little goby I’m right here where I would wish
My fins kick up a little sand as I go on my way
I’m looking for a tasty meal which I do every day
Perhaps I’m quite a hypocrite as I seek out a morsel
For like a cat, a shrimp would send a shiver down my dorsal
And there it is, my lunch today is flitting to and fro
It’s almost mesmerising so I guess I’ll have a go
I swim up very stealthily and open my mouth wide
The sand erupts… and it’s an anglerfish I’m stuck inside!
And so I sit here hoping that another fish might follow
And I can swim out as he finds a bigger fish to swallow
I cannot bare to think I might be chewed up to a pulp
And I can only hope the last sound I hear isn’t, “Gulp!”
