Guilty

Mom caught my sister at the sink pouring out her soup.
I'd done it first. My poor sister only copied me.
She never snitched on me, yet she got Mom's punishment.
I got to see the movie she did not get to see!

I don't recall if I ever told my sister sorry.
So here's my apology; dear Melanie, you know
I love you bunches, and next time that I see you, Sis,
I'll pay for both the popcorn and your ticket to a show!

Wonderful write Andrea. The feelings seem much deeper than the words on the page. To have a simple little thing eat at you for so long. Guilt is a lingering thing. Make sure she reads this.

Oh, Ralph, I don't feel that guilty about this. In fact, I wrote another poem more comical about it years ago and let her see it. This is all I could come up with for the contest. I was such an angel otherwise. hahaha

Funny the little things that stick with you, and seem like such a big deal at the time ... I doubt if your sister even remembers! Your house sounds a bit like mine ... if we didn't like the food then we wouldn't eat or get to leave the table (ever stare at your plate hoping your meal would somehow disintegrate magically? ... lol) ...

It is always the one who goes second who gets caught. She has probably forgotten about it.
