One would think that people would have learnt from Hitler how easy it is to overthrow a government but, as you mention, the rise if tyrants proves we have not learnt anything at all!

Trump is still following HItler's playbook by inciting dissidents to attack Trump opponents with the promise that he will pardon them after he becomes Führer. That is a clear and present danger, but intelligent Americans won't speak up because they have seen how easily Trump was able to dispose of NY Governor Cuomo and curtail NY investigations and legal proceedings against the Trumps and their activities.
