the throb of a torment so deep, so despondent, it almost feels like the end of every hope, every grace, all the wonder of love and faith… this, dear soul, is the darkness of grief, poured out into lives who naturally agree, without love, grief wouldn’t need to be a reflection of what it means to love unconditionally ~ by poet

As you grieve, as silence escorts you through the night,
whispering its ache through your heart and soul,
breathing anguish into each morsel of hope,
breaking through the shadows of sorrow…

in words that can’t be spoken, prayers that cut through the lonely
balancing the past and today with colors of longing,
rusty autumn days, spread out before you, wistful and melancholic,
deepening the indigo blue of the skies, so sure
that peace has fallen from grace,
peace, where can a spirit find the answers
to grief that seems constant, endless,
sprinkled across the soul the way He spreads the stars,
into the night, so alive while the glitter subsides…

in a moment, before the healing of a soul
comes blazing from the heart who can find its only hope
among the songs flowing gently, blessing with calm
the one who knows this is a grief that has no words.

it is dark, apprehensive, prophesying of the loss
torturing the thoughts, punishing the hopes, afflicting
each memory with a mysterious gray that bleeds
through the anxious search for peace, for a chance
to feel what it means to be comforted by the hand,
who hesitates on the heart, breathing reassuring, cheering
erasing the fears, the tears,…

As you grieve, as silence finds its seat, never to leave,
I welcome you to share the light with me…

light that bleeds from the abundance of a love who sees
through the darkness, the gray, the blackest days…
light that is never afraid and always stays to say,
if you had never loved this way, you wouldn’t have to delay,
amid the sorrows, all the pain that comes to those
who have loved more than their hearts could explain,
with a love that abides through every heartbreak,
every sorrow, every loss… despite the cost,
love is the light that finds a way through the darkness,
breaking apart the shadows that have failed to keep the heart
from a love that shines from God above,
through the light that remembers… His love never ends
His love never will let grief extinguish the gift He sends,
the gift of love that He brought when His Son was sent to earth,
the gift of love that mends all woe with a light that glows
beyond this world, to the everlasting life…
where every grief is exiled, where every heart is inspired
where every soul knows the love that makes – even the grieving,
more alive, surviving, completely whole…

because with Jesus, there is love that sits – still
embracing the weeping with hope that spreads, reflecting
what it means to chase away all the mourning
with love that is more than His warning…
love that is alive and forever burning
a fire inside where heavy hearts keep churning,
remembering that love is greater than our deepest yearning.

as you grieve, find the peace that believes
wherever He sends His consoling,
there is love beyond what our minds can describe,
love so alive that the whole world grows bright
when we decide to simply rest in His abundant grace!
