Greed

Greed of all kinds, more for power n’ pelf Drives men to play many a mischief It enters our world like an invisible elf Making one demean his esteemed self Greed is like an uncontrolled steed It might gallop in reckless speed Any time it can kick you down to bleed Sometimes even causing a stampede Running after wealth is a wild goose chase The snobbish, wealth can easily entice Often they have to pay a heavy price Greed generates greed and many a vice Money is seen by some as master and Lord Sad, they strive everyday to hoard Even if a lot of wealth is procured Alas, one never feels fully secured The root cause of many a malady is greed We witness the ills it does everyday breed Minimize the wants and focus only on the need Thus from monstrous greed, let us be freed

Excellent entry for the contest, my dear friend. Good choice for "G". The root of all evil is the love of money (Greed). It can entice a good man or woman to leave their good life and become a slave to their needless desire. Very destructive. Your poem may help many to return to a better path, Valsa. I hope so. Good luck in the contest! Blessings, Bill

The root cause of many a malady is greed--so true and well said, Valsa. Greed is an obsession, a disease--I like the cure you prescribe in ending lines. Best to you.

Oh, Valsa, what a magnificent poem you have crafted! From the first verse to the last, your flawless use of rhyme ensnares the reader, compelling them to engage with your deep exploration of avarice. Your poem has the power to awaken dormant eyes. Poring the demise of rapacious men, one is left pondering the paltry remnants they leave behind – a mere suit, a coffin, bereft of any monetary inheritance. Yet, within them, they bear the weight of both virtue and vice, for swift injunction awaits.

Dear Valsa, a great treatise on greed. Your poem should be an eye-opener. A greedy person dies and what's left for him. A suit, a coffin, no money taken by the heirs. But with him, he carries the good and the bad. Judgement will be swift. A great poem.
