'grand'Mother
Slow and subtle, mellow and munificent.
Stripes of selflessness run through her veins.
But there’s something about her that
I can’t describe.
It’s love, deep love- spinning its wheels,
It never ends. Sacrifice, kiss goodbye
and cut loose, for love. Undying
of myriad attempts for happiness
For those she has left.
It’s faith-
We will meet again.
To everyone she has lost,
She will find her way.
It’s courage- fighting
Against wolves, against rabbits
all alone. In that gnarly, crooked life
all alone. All alone.
The grief of bereavement,
‘GRAND’mother was so young!
The grief of dependence,
‘GRAND’mother is old!
It’s something nature’s done,
Enlighten, Empower, Entrench our ways,
Pawn or Queen.
My grandmother, a hero
A role model,
Her ways shine.
I can see her in the mirror,
She can see me too.
She is inside me, I feel it.
She feels it too.
We both know,
Land or Water, Dusk or Dawn
Holocaust or Home, Heaven or Hell,
Her time will never end.
She’s an inspiration to the world.
