Grandma Tutu and Her Gun

When Grandma Tutu said she owned a gun, my mother freaked! She gasped! How she was stunned! She wanted Tutu to throw it away, but then forgot. The gun was there to stay. We never knew where Tutu had it hid, not even when she moved and she got rid of lots of stuff. But in the nursing home where Tutu died, my mom went through each tome, and trinket, and shirt. She thought she was done, but opened a drawer. There was the gun! My mom’s dropped jaw I wish I could have seen. The gun was thrown in River San Joaquin! 5-9-21 Contest: Guns Sponsor: Anthony Biaanco

What a superb poem! It is clever, funny, a delight for the reader. Grandma Tutu is a rebel indeed - albeit one prepared in her defenses. Your posting is a winner in my book. Best wishes, Brian

Thank you Brian! Yes, that was my Tutu! So glad you like this. I wanted to do an entirely different take on guns for this contest. Didn’t win anything but it was sure fun to write.

loved your poem Jennifer, gran was, lucky to have you as a grand daughter . You describe the wise comments of older people with a clever and very different theme. We are considering moving into a retirement complex for the the over sixties. We sold our huge 4 bedroomed home last year. We will never be a grandpa or grandma as our sons and their wives feel this planet is going to suffer huge ordeals from only as far as 10 years into the future, so no babies! Hugs and blessings Jennifer.

Hi my fellow Jennifer! You don’t look old enough to move into a retirement complex! You can still become a grandma by adopting a grandkid, like my friend Nancy adopted me. She’s the friend in my poem about Butchart Gardens.

Hello Jennifer … as you commented on my verse about aged people, your poem has a similar theme. They should be believed - enjoyed your poem Jennifer - Lindsay

Grandma Tutu toted! Love it! She apparently was not the one to mess with. No longer needed, the gun, you drowned.
