Gracious Assurance of Love
When moonglow drapes evening's skyline
Our mind still reels from the hard work of a day,
But touches the rhythm of timed breath
Seeking quiet from a night which grows tender:
And here in this space, the flowers waft
Of stars' rock-a-bye, traipsing a slow-dance,
Waiting for the promised hush of the wind
Softly caressing time upon light’s grace;
And finding ardor ripple in the bathe of comfort,
Trickling, fondling dusk 's gentleness.
Night, lulled by serenades of robins’ tweet
Rests on cloud’s nest like a glide on a lattice;
That like an open flight, hearts are calmed:
And our last wisp together drools:” Shh, beloved,
Dream with me of love's most gracious intent..,"
And the world passes by through a warm embrace,
Where sleep meets a lull of earnest assurance.
