I come consistent, end-of-day To lay my troubles down and pray Beside those worries that I weigh On hushing sands that trim the bay Thru sun or rain, in bright or gray For wondered hours gone astray Reposed in twilight's soft bouquet Thus seeking life's sweet interplay To shift and shape this grand ballet While drowning in the day's decay Amidst the bloom of nature's fray I set loose cares and drown dismay No brooding with "poor-me's" cliche' Seclusion birthed of Hemingway This shore, my peaceful protege' A timeless friend to doubts, allay And leave the griefs of yesterday ... Let strains, like seas, just ease away Soft, come the evening, come what may Though softer, still, the moon's display As slow, it creeps, to peep the cay Oh here my soul shall ALWAYS stray Where silence, peace and grace repay ... Swept shore-ward ... love's last castaway. ~ 1st Place ~ in the "Grace And Solitude" Poetry Contest, John Hamilton, Judge & Sponsor.

Excellent choice for #1 win in this contest. Your monorhyme was elegantly rendered, your shape (left AND right, not easy), your classic style, your nods to nature, your clever wording ("Amidst the bloom of nature's fray", just one example), and your message of quietude all made this a very pleasurable read. Going in my faves. Great poetry, my friend!

Thank you so much, my friend, I'm pleased you enjoyed it! He is a heavy influence of mine, though I never agreed with all his views - what an imagist he was! :o)

This must have been difficult to continue mono-rhyme all the way through. Lots of creative ideas!

Thank you, Juliet - I could have kept going but I think monorhyme gets monotonous and obviously forced after a while. Blessings, my friend! :o) <3
