Boy saves man from drowning!

Joey Softshoe was surfing yesterday
near the breakers
With hair blowing and breeze in his face
and feet on his board, finding dolphin waves peeking
Joey says he heard a scream coming from his left,
where he turned and saw a man going under.
Without hesitation Joey paddled his board
over to the man, now identified as Billy Joe Bob,
from Canada
Joey pulled Billy Joe onto his board,
then made his way to shore.
Billy Joe survived and thanked Joey,
by buying him a new board
Joey says he'll use it tomorrow,
after six grade class

Now this is the type of story that makes readers smile! And to think a sixth-grade boy saved this man makes it even more amazing. If I were the editor, I'd hold a spot on page one for this gem, Frederic. Best wishes in the contest! Love, carolyn
