It’s often the older books, with their patient and lovely prose, that draw me in. Certainly not snubbing authors. I think I have read so much and I’m at an age where many things don’t interest me anymore. I feel certain there must be a name for this...perhaps midlife crisis...lol.
GOLDEN NUGGETS
books shout from their shelves
pleading...won’t you choose me please
...let me join your team
some wait patiently
coughing antiquity’s dust
white hair...piercing eyes
popularity
like unbroken chain letter
...too many partners
the rare find hidden
simple..shy..golden nuggets
— knuckles rest on chin
my shovel moves dirt...
i dig the dinosaur bones
...glancing side to side
curiosity
wonders why no one else cares
…i lick my fingers
