Gold With Diamonds

When I was younger
Time was money

Fancy clothes and romance

Now, it is one day less;
Every additional gift
Of sunrise
an immeasurable wealth

No longer with Time on
My side, try as I may
(my old Rolex sighed)

From Father Time, nothing
Can really hide --

While young, we all crave for romance and fashionable clothes. Such things we regard as our great assets. But as we grow older, we come to realize that time is money and each new day to breathe is our greatest treasure.

Dear Joe, a poem full of truth here. As my body slows me down in old age I actually get a better soul perspective. Who would have thunk it! So, I really like your poem. Moon Harp

We grow old. Each day is a step nearer to death. Yet we hold strength. Let death come when it must. A must read.

I am not sure why this resonates with me too, I guess some of us learn quickly, that material wealth means nothing. Time is currency, and every second counts, I live for sunsets, and how it reminds me, all endings are stunning, may sound cliche but its true. Time was never on our side… but a challenger. This is so profound and so deeply moving and soulful dear Joe. Pleasure reading. Sending you light always

You learned well. That's why you are such a fine poet. Have a great writing day my friend. In deed, Time is a challenger -- never to defeat but to make the most of.

Yes, now we admire every sunrise, not the world’s riches.
