Anyone remember the Corona portable typewriter in the 70's?

Listen to poem:
back in my day
there was no technology
nothing like nowadays

the calculator was
considered cheating
in math class

in my day girls got hauled
into the principal's office
for wearing their skirts too short

we also had bullies and troublemakers
who started all the rumors
but thankfully we had no facebook

in my day essays were
neatly written in long hand
on lined paper ~ no computers

in my last year of highschool
I got a portable typewriter
I felt so grown up

I rather liked school it turned out
so I moved away to university
and lost touch with people I knew

it was before email and networking
years later I tried to reach out to a few but most girls
moved or got married and changed their names

feels like a hundred years ago ~

Sure do remember that typewriter. Our school had a typing program in 7th grade. Should have been a secretary. lol. Was typing 85 wpm in two months --- on an old Smith-Corona upright, to boot. (That was 1962). Still fast after all these years.) ~ 'Quick Draw'

Had we only known then what we know now, how different life might have been. I love nostalgic poems. Those were days that are hard to define. Great writing, Line:)

Wow... the reality of every word... so true. Captured in your patient and kind voice is magical. You must be a teacher... if you are not... you should be... Love your write. God bless your day. Ann... at the Irish Ranch... chasing squirels.

Thanks for your lovely comment, Ann. As a matter of fact I did want to become a teacher but veered into another direction ~ and now I'm quite happily retired.

Happy memories Line, we've moved forward so quickly in a short space of time. They were great years though. Tom

Your poem took me back to simpler times. I wasn't around to experience typewriters, but we had a computer when I was in high school and though it was dial up, it seemed so high tech. Thankfully we got to enjoy childhood without social media.

My first was a brand new gray Remington. I was so proud of it. I wonder what has become of it, as it disappeared when I went into the service. I enjoyed your trip down memory lane, Line.
