Going Backwards
You’re not leaving out
the same way you came in
Although you are leaving out
like a little baby crawling
You’re not going down into the ground
with the same morals you were taught growing up
You’re going out the world backwards,
like a newborn runt pup
Your daddy taught you to be decent,
your mama taught you to be polite
Admonishing you always to be good,
and only do that which is right
They told you to be a caring person,
embrace another’s sadness when you see others grieve
Have compassion when someone is struggling,
try to help those in need
But you didn’t wanna live clean,
you enjoy wallowing dirty
With a soul so filthy,
you’re just one rotten human being
When you talk to women,
you’re so obnoxiously forward
Got no sense of probity,
no desire for propriety
You’re leaving the wrong way,
going out backwards
But those nefarious ways have caught up to you,
now you’re suffering the consequences
of your bad boy attitude
Hell loves a paying customer,
somebody who likes buying what the devil sell
Now sin sickness has overtaken you,
and Dr. Feel Good says:
it don’t look like you’re gonna get well
No, you’re not leaving out
the same way you came in —
fresh and innocent
Although you are leaving out
like a little baby crying
