Goethe's Stanza- For Children

Forest primeval must have stories to tell

Who knows the secrets of its dark places
Perhaps in a glade a green dragon dwells

Or roam monkeys with most unusual faces
--
Perhaps make a turn and find a fairy or two

And have tea with their queen and her court
Or dance with a goat whose dressed all in blue

Oh what wonderful tales we will have to report
--
So my child, take my hand and off we'll go

Down this forest path and round the bend
Adventures to be had and stories to know

Before we find how this mystical story ends

Delightful take on the prompt, Barbara. A fantasy for children, would make a good introduction on the flypage of a children's book on such animals. I rank it 10/10 again. Thanks for your comment on my own entry. Like Carolyn, you got me hooked and I'm past 70.

Your poem is so original and refreshing. I enjoyed every word. We need to coax more children into the wonderful world of poetry! I visualize this entry on the winner's list!

Thanks Connie, who knows what the result will be, but I had fun writing it. I wish we could get children exposed to poetry at an early age. I have done so with my grandson, and he loves it. BG

Dear BG, even we "big kids" can enjoy such a magical, fantasy journey through the forest. Craig is sure to love it too! As for me, I just want to dance with the blue-clad goat. LOL Love, Carolyn

Glad you stopped by, was beginning to think no one was going to comment and maybe it was a real stinker...
