God's Special Effects

I accidentally let one loose. That is to say that each time it occurred, with no assistance from me, there flowed from my innermost being a sense of reverence and a quick flash of wonderment to acknowledge and give recognition to the awesomeness of our God. Although it was the kind of rain that caused neither despair nor pain, there were many people who feared when those dark clouds appeared. Every part of me was saying, "Wow! Amazing! Spectacular! O my God!" It could be warm, sunny, and bright when suddenly it turned to midnight. But in the height of one's fright, there was never any need to take flight. It's that weather system with thunder and lightning that makes you wonder. Hollywood never comes close to those great special effects of light and sound. It's like the roaring of a lion readying for the kill or like anticipating a wintry chill. Like wide-eyed terror in the wilds; should I make haste for the hills or remain still? The rolling thunder and the splash of lightning were both arresting and captivating. Rarely if ever did all that pump and circumstance cause pain to anyone but were simply the breath-taking layout of 'the red carpet for the grandest entry of The Summer Rain'. The fields of cotton, corn, beans, and hay had everything to gain, and we all refrained. Those sudden and stormy southern summer rains are most memorable. The floodgates of heaven would open and pour out its mighty drops of rain enough to astound, often for just a few minutes, followed by a divine quietness all around. A spellbinding storm had departed just as suddenly as it had appeared. Then, the clouds would brighten and roll back, making way for the grand reentry of the sun. In no time at all, we returned to work or to have fun. 07032014PoetrySoupContest, I Accidentally Let One Loose, Charles Messina
