God and the Devil
There is good in the heart of Man;
that can quickly morph into evil
when envy feeds His insatiable greed;
we'll conspire, coerce, and bully to get what we want.
Death is an effective threat,
and war is its fulfillment;
we revel in the dominance and brutality.
So much so that we proclaim it "Man's finest hour,"
celebrating a potent mix of blood and fear.
Politics and the color of our skin separates
those that we view as them from us,
We're right; they're wrong; that is how it is.
We instinctively hate what we fear;
but what we fear isn't always straightforward
and some may be hesitant to kill,
but if push turns to shove, they'll bend to peer pressure,
and invent a reason.
Everyone has the inalienable right to exist;
yet Man's indisputable, innate aggression
leads one to question,
how God and the Devil coexist.
Man has a pension for committing atrocities,
unphased by faith or moral ethics.
