Gluttony Takes No Prisoners

Gluttony takes no prisoners,
And leaves nothing behind to grow,
Except the need for more.

Gluttony unchecked will end our planets usefulness,
But not our usefulness,
In helping Gluttony get to more and more planets.

More, more, more, and ever more,
Is Gluttony's call to all but the wiry,
And the spendthrift,
The non-alcoholic,
And the tree Hugger,
The Hermit,
And the one actually on a diet.

But is six enough,
To reverse the damage,
From decades of overindulgence?

There is such tremendous waste in the world, a horrifying amount of food thrown out from restaurants and gourmet food stores. If it's too big, old, not the right color, or the wrong shape, get on a new one. I enjoyed the imagery in your poem, and I am glad to have found it.

Thanks Gordon. I almost feel sick as they advertise overindulgence in food and then there is the cooking shows on most channels. While I still enjoy my food age makes my bites a little smaller and slower. Which is as well because temptation does not disappear with age. Reagards David in NZ
