Notes About The Poem

A collaboration with the amazing and very talented Maria Williams, on breaking free from the cycle of abuse. There are so many silenced souls, ones without a voice, and abuse has no gender or race.  An honor to be included, thank you poetic soul Maria, for the opportunity and trust and your unwavering support.

Glass Throne, Collaboration with Maria Williams

Enduring in the gullibility of your
vacuous domain
Where viciousness stretched its cruel chains,
and vain vows cast in silver lined threads
were soft enough to soothe,
but sharp enough to shred.

I followed the fractures, fine as hair,
witnessed truth crackle through oxygenated air.
Your crown — little more than gilded dust,
from my puppet strings severed
I placed my trust
that you’d come undone from your reign unjust...

And in your castle carved from fears,
bloom black orchids, drenched in thistles of tears,
veiling the moon with lethal lace,
perfumed with poison, in gruesome grace.

Yet I refuse to drown in the seas of the artless,
like a marionette, silenced and heartless:
for I am the silhouette of silk and solace,
soaring beyond chains of brutality and malice,

To an island where thorn less love blooms,
and faith is the melody to erase written gloom,
from the sinister streaks of the narcissistic sun-stain
I ricochet amidst the night and champagne rain...

Amazing how we sometimes tolerate it because we're looking for comfort...the soothe/shred paradox pair. Indeed, escape from an abusive situation is one really good solution in many cases. Valsa George Date: 3/2/2025 4:18:00 AM Needless to say that this is a wonderful collaboration. When two Empresses, come together, it will produce immaculate results. You have dealt with a topic of great importance in a world of abuse and harassment. This is a topic that has to be addressed by all poets and writers and thinking brains from all walks of life. Many abuse cases go unnoticed because of lack of nerve or of the fear of the consequences. But the victims should show the courage to speak out and earn the strength to support themselves . Andrea Dietrich Date: 2/26/2025 1:13:00 PM wow, that poem AND song are absolutely amazing, Sweetie. Am I right, but I think the song does not go exactly by all your words?? The lyrics seem to be simplified and are very relatable. I see so many programs on tv about abuse, but not many women are lucky to escape. They stay with the abuser especially when they have kids and he threatens their lives. It's a very tragic world we live in where men are doing opposite of what God wanted them to do for women. a huge FAVE.
