Gladiolus Tanka

Spring gladiolus
Bloom by bloom they develop
Dainty pink beauties
Stand proud before my garden
Guard me while I pause in bliss

Hi Ken, I'm more of a hibiscus kind of guy as I tend to steer away from the bulb varieties of flowers. But this poem rocks in terms of imagery and a "pause in bliss" - something we all need from time to time. Very well done.

Thank you Paige. I am not a flower person per se, but i do have a garden and the glads prosper. I chose them for the universal imagery they would present here.

Ahh!! I enjoy glads in my garden but have trouble with them being blown over. I know there are remedies, but I am no longer able to get out there and care for them or anything else. Thank you for dropping by my page with congratulations. I appreciate you taking the time to stop by. Sara

Wow. Such kind words. Well, the glads ain't what they used to be. 8 days above 90 degrees pretty much wasted them. Bot the memory lingers. Best - Ken

Oh I love this. I planted some pink ones too and yellow. They are growing, but haven't bloomed yet :)

Lovely write, Ken; I too, believe that blossoms have thinking personalities and duties besides being beautiful, with entrancing scents. I join you in the floral loony-bin. Rose will be my favorite nurse. Great read!

This is a beautiful tribute to gladiolas. I am seeing many flower tankas. I hope it's ok to do something different than flowers for this contest. I better check the rules again, or it's back to the drawing board for me.
