Giving Thanks

To give thanks for a life given
May be all that we need today.
From bitter years born out of need
The U.S. has shown us the way.

May be all that we need today
Or is there something else we need?
Our pain gave us the will to live
How do we go to plant that seed?

From bitter years born out of need
Was planted a crop for harvest.
A crop that stood the test of time
Harvest was good...but the world's best.

The U.S. has shown us the way
Its spirit is what we should heed.
   "Thanksgiving" is not far away
Thankful voices will sing God's creed.

Thanks CayCay. Kind of different and a little more stressful of a form than I thought it would be.

Hey Dan, I like the fluid flow of your poem, the very nice way you did your 2nd and 3rd stanzas, the queries you add make it more intense! (by the way, I'm done with my response to your poem oriental love rhapsody, I shall post it soon.. =`) far different from what you made.. Hope you will like it)~Olive Eloisa =`) will leave you a note.. =`)

Thanks, Olive. I am looking forward to your posting. I only wish I knew enough about the website so I could send responses to people who email me, instead of trying to reach them in comments. Be sure you let me know the title of yours. As for the above, most do not know that Lincoln started this holiday during the Civil War. Hence, the 3rd line in each stanza relate to each other. Thanks for stopping and your response.
