Give the Devil His Due

Give the devil his due,
for he does not give up.
Each ego ploy is new,
serpentine in approach,
clinging to heart like glue.

Give the devil his due,
to hypnotise our mind.
We see not any clue,
bemused by illusions,
as myriad fears brew.

Give the devil his due,
to spin a fairy tale,
beating us black and blue;
we continue to wail,
lined up at the church pew.

Give the devil his due,
to make us feel confined.
We’re a lion, yet mew,
frightened by mere shadows,
blurring our divine view.

Won't give the devil his due, will leave that up to Christ who will according to my reading break up the works of the devil and put him out of commission for good .As to the timing of that wondrous day that's not in my wheelhouse either.I just wait and pray with full faith it will come to pass. Also believe he is more than the representation of all that is evil but the embodiment of it albeit in spiritual form. To do less I fear makes him more effective.Won't give him that either.

What’s the devil but ego which separates us from love & light?

The devil deserves nothing but hell.

For devil, read ‘fears & desires rooted in attachments we cling to’
