Gigi

I had meet Gigi Fernandez at the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco at the tail end of Flower Power with the scent of carefree loving in the air exchange students finding themselves in a different world far from home tasting novelty and longing desire in nascent passion for pleasure and fun enthralled by her beautiful mind and looks made in Brazil seduction struck free flowing hair down to her waste and dark smiling eyes cast from heaven peace flag draped around us for innocent cover and statement of kindness we shared Mary Jane amongst other temptations bestowed from our nature blond German boy meets nubile princess from exotic Rio by provenance destiny in the making for thirsty mouths and skinfuls of passionate caress one touch led to another and a volcano erupted in the legendary City of Joy proudly we showed off our union at the Senior Prom and walks on the beach she had quite a bit in common with Frida Kahlo the mysterious heroine painted fantasy and feelings onto canvas and murals of epic emotions an accident in adolescence had broken her spine and called for metal to be implanted into her back as if to enhance her gait and composure thinking back I was just a naive kid filled with magical tender delight a lonely adolescent taken in by her sharp intellect and upright posture merely sixteen years to my name but plenty to learn give and receive so we vowed to write lovestruck letters and send them across the ocean I made plans and saved money but the fool who I was did not book a flight went to University instead in a traditional solid attempt to be a provider ‘for what’ one might ask if love had to take an empty back seat from romance and I was led astray with another relationship which led to marriage and kids when I wrote to Gigi that I would marry she did not post me any reply but I know now that I had broken her heart and wonder what if only I had followed my longing dreams intuition and adventurous guidance and not succumbed to a reality based diversion from this soul mate of mine the rest of the story is history with nurturing kids and divorce after years of so called normality and steadfast reason building a home and defeat I did find another gem from far away shores under vast South African sun but it has been a long road to paradise because life knows no shortcuts 04th July 2020

I thought that I would never write about matters like this, but now I think that I have a few more poems on that theme coming. The prompts by soup contests can be very useful...
