George Bernard Shaw

GEORGE BERNARD SHAW George Bernard Shaw, born in 1856, Wrote plays and novels, But for me the most Important was he wrote many a poem A quote of his “Write your sad times In Sand, write your good times in stone”. My poem ‘From Humble Beginnings’ Just the title mind you, is exactly from Where Mr Shaw heralded, Dublin Ireland, his fame was renown, no University background, yet Literature For Bernard was just thrilling, And his quotes, plays and poems, Always fulfilling. “A life spent making mistakes is not only Honorable, but more useful than a life spent doing nothing”. His winnings Were numerous among which, The Nobel Prize, and even an Oscar. His quote “Life isn’t about finding Yourself, Life is about creating Yourself”. And, as such to be convincing. His interest in politics was avid, he was A true Socialist and joined the Fabian Society, he became popular and Enjoyed doing theater critics. Started writing his own plays, In so many different themes, the class System, religion and the inequalities In life. The public responded to his natural Humor, Shaw's quote “The longer I live, The more convinced am I that this planet Is used by other planets as a lunatic asylum”. For, said this wise poet, “Progress is impossible without change, and Those who cannot change their minds cannot Change anything” and furthermore, "We don’t stop playing because we grow old, We grow old because we stop playing” This famous Literary man George Bernard Shaw, Was 94 years of age, When he died in 1950 He wrote famous novels, poems And plays for the stage, But I will leave you with one other quote Of his “Happy is the man who can Make a living by his hobby”.

The wise quotes by George Bernard Shaw though I have heard now and then, when found here one after another, gave me such joy.“Life isn’t about finding Yourself, Life is about creating Yourself”. This he didn't just say, but lived up to it. He was a stammerer and had great stage fright ! But through rigorous practice he got over his stage fright and became one of the great orators of the world ! Thank you Jennifer for sharing your great thoughts on this distinguished writer. Love and hugs

Oh, SO MANY excellent quotes you have woven into this tribute of Shaw! I loved seeing his play 'Pygmalion' upon which the musical 'My Fair Lady' was based. My favorite quotes here are the sand and stone one, and the one about changing one's mind. Wonderfully educational, Jenn! Loved it ~ John

I like the quote you cited about other planets using earth as a lunatic asylum. Pretty funny!... Amazing that I was an English major, yet I've never read anything by Shaw. Oh, Pshaw! Thanks for whetting my appetite, J.P! Cheers, Gershon

Jenni highly informative about George Bernard Shaw. All his quotes are thought provoking. I still remember, the plays 'Pygmalion', and Saint Joan', about the Joan of Arc by Shaw were prescribed for us.... though honestly, I have forgotten it all NOW. Have a lovely blessed day dear friend.. Hugs ~ Ani

Regina, what a wonderful comment - you are such a sweetheart! As for my contest entries, the only thing I can think off, but its weird that it happened three times in a row, is that I always put my poem into edit, rectify what I think should change, which I did, and then post it, which it seems I didn't, that is the only thing I can think of. Thank-you for your concern and your willingness to help Hugs and blessings, Jennifer.

Hi Jan Thank you for being the first to answer my poem, I somehow felt you would when you saw this famous poets name. I want to do the same but must gather my wits about me enough to understand the process of having something published. You have got a few books published if i remember correctly, business is taking up nearly all of my time. Be safe Jan, I see the enemy has reached your shores. Hugs and blessings, Jennifer.
