Gazing Through New Eyes
Open eyes to first light,
Sun warming my fur shining bright,
Soft blanket under my cheek
Couch a brown so bleak.
No responsibilities today,
Watching the bird feeder sway,
Sleep crusting my eyes,
Looking at the skies.
Slowly getting up,
Lapping coffee out of an abandoned cup,
Puppy ate the trash,
Took the fish head to his stash.
Walks into the bedroom,
My yawn begins to bloom.
I’m tired all over again,
From movement I’ll abstain.
Good night
