Funny How a Room Dies

     Funny how a room dies

        First it’s off to college
        Then out into the world
        Blink twice, there’s marriage
Into the abyss, her room’s hurled

     Funny how a room dies

Maybe turn it into a man cave? It’s tough when they leave home. Or you can save it for the grandkids. That will breathe life into it.

Time for expansion...blow out some walls -- yep, we cannot hold on too long to anything of this world, even what is dearly heartfelt. Nothing was ever ours alone, to claim and keep.

Thanks for the wrecking-ball perspective here, Joe. Lol. I guess just like people: When a room's time is up, it's up. ~ Moving on, gw

you captured something poignant and profound...the emptiness when a child becomes an adult and moves away from home....there's both pride and sadness. Well done, sir!

just be thankful that the "room" cannot be coerced into testifying under oath

Simple yet poignant — a powerful snapshot of life’s passage and the quiet changes that mark it. ‘Funny how a room dies’ lingers long after reading.

Thanks for the encouragement, Rowena. That the words linger is a good sign. Cheers, Gershon
