Notes About The Poem

Frozen In Your Disdain

"Goodness is like hate
Both grow from seeds"
- Arthur Vaso

I kneel on you
Red earth
like the blood
flowing
in your veins

Blue cold as
your eyes
Beautiful
and skipping
Like dragonflies
on water
and lilies

I am frozen
In your disdain
Diminished
In your contempt

Beneath my
withered hand
Thump thump
of your heart

Whistles soft
as a breeze
to thaw
my starved lungs

I dig a small hole
in your red earth
To plant my seed
of love
And smother your hate

Hello Darren. May love and goodness win every time over hate and evil. May your words and message be heard. Well done throughout.

Oh, Darren, if only we could plant such a seed and banish hate. Your poem is compelling and there has never been a time when we needed to plant seeds of love more than today. Thank you for sharing this gem!

Carolyn, if it were only true, weren't it? Such a wonderful simple solution!

We need to stop hate before grows by smothering it with love

Yeah, I had it written out as a draft on my blog, but even that was gone....

I might use smother instead of kill... I believe that's what I originally had. But my pc froze and I lost it all.... So frustrated :)
