From a caged bird to a Phoenix rising

We were the best thing between us until we weren't. We had prolonged, timeless nights cuddling, and often, we couldn't stop. We were thick as thieves, two peas in a pod. We stay with each other, and we fill each other's hearts. When times were hard and family was not around, you comforted and brought me love again. It's wild that things have changed; sometimes, I wish we weren't looking past one another. Those times when the money ran out, we had hope and knew God would look out. We planned for our future and saw many years to come. It's a damn shame those days faded. I feel so cold and alone without you. To have your kind of love as a best friend. We were so comfortable in our ideal love language that many couldn't catch up with our conversations. In the games we played, we were the perfect partners in spades. It was a roller-coaster ride that felt like a usual way of life. I'll hide all my feelings and tell them they were all lies. I'll pull back on things I wanted to say to make you stay. It was a foolish game, and I learned the brutal way. In the end, all the jokes fell on me. You met me as a tattered caged bird, but now, through the ashes, I have become reborn. I'm a flaming Phoenix rising high in the sky, shining bright and vibrating. The lessons learned run so deep. These tears won't fall; I shall forever keep them. Despite the choices, I still look forward and smile at what's ahead. Illusions and confusion are no more knocking at my door. I see things for what they are and feel things as I should. Transformations. Acceptance. Letting Go—hard lessons learned.

Hi Dena, I enjoyed reading your poem and experiencing your open heart and words, evolving into realization and acceptance at the end. I love the Phoenix rising high in the sky ! It shows your strong heart and equally strong soul. Rise, my sister rise! Susan :)
