Friend and Lover

FRIEND AND LOVER I wish to be your Friend a Pal to weather-out storms with- but most of all just a Friend, who is always there when needed ! I desire to be your promised Love not the dreamt of knight- but the man to cushion hurts and keep the hearth before Thee warm. I want not to build about Thee nor to set you on a pedestal- rather I wish all the world to know that we are both Lovers and Friends, united in a partnership to make all Life seem better ! I'm not a man of gilded-tongue nor one who plays the peoples games- and so each night up on the twinkling Heavens, I've asked to tel Thee. Then just last night as I slept up on my pillow- two brilliant, soothing Angels rendered me this poem; and now to Thee, I've brought it !
