French Ducks

FRENCH DUCKS

Needed a break from work and worry
Took the kids to France on the overnight ferry
Picnicked in some chateau gardens hot day in July
Duck came out of river to get our crumbs of pie
Unafraid, she mingled with our legs and feet
But the bigger drake stood back, shunned our meat
The sweltering hunger made his tummy numb
But only when we left did he scoop up the crumb
Left by his female companion, a brave young wench.
We tried to coax him closer, but I guess he only spoke French.

Cute ending, Syd. Made me giggle. I'm guessing C.L. was telling you how to call the ducks in French. I speak a tad of French. Guess I just would have said, "Ici, ici, mon ami." (Here, here, my friend.) Love, Carolyn
