Freedom
Freedom for our ancestors did not come silently.
It came like firecracker pops. It came with canons’ blast.
It came with rebel shouts that shook the world.
It came with many sacrifices in the past.
Freedom echoes in our nation’s collective memory.
We celebrate it noisily in July.
But think beyond the revelry and cacophony.
Think beyond the many lights that blaze the sky.
Freedom’s fight must never be forgotten.
Its story must be passed on to not be lost.
Revolt was loud. It sparked a fire led by a battle cry.
Brave souls’ lives were precious freedom’s cost.
