Free Verse

Free Verse is not entirely free – no word without its thought and feeling attached; In fact, no-where is there total independence, not a body nor spirit living outside the body of its maker, connected both physically and psychically to an ever-evolving seamless universe -- the convolution of individualized expression far from a comprehensive relationship with indivisible reality… What we create we are bound to… never a quiet distance from the volume of praise confounded by the clamor of silence –

Hello Joe, my thoughts are the same as our special person S.O. ; so, many get forms confused why it is ok. I am still learning myself just like so many other. Well said dear. Eve

Thank you, Eve; I no-longer analyze poetry -- I just write. Have a beautiful day! Blessings, and keep the ink (or pencil, what I use) flowing. Joe.

Interesting thoughts, as you know, your poetry always make me think.. It is not always about the volume of praise, especially on here... Some of the best poems are never read, nor commented upon, and that is sad.. On another note, I do feel free verse and prose are confused, with many free verse being prose...

I agree; it may well be that if you ask a hundred different people to define Free Verse (Blank Verse), you may get a hundred different answers. I just try to make my writing interesting, using the least amount of words (compress) to express an idea. I often mix many other forms of poetry with Free Verse, including Prose if it best defines what I want to say. If there was a category "Joe Poetry" I would always choose that, feeling my works are closer to poetry than definitive Prose. I love when you comment. It is always honest and elucidating. Thank you.

Hi Joe, This is a fine poem which prompts one to wonder whether the category of "Free Verse" needs to be re-named in regards to types of poetry. - Gail

Maybe Gail; I honestly don't know. When I was younger I studied all forms of poetry -- and now, I am never happy unless I do exactly what my heart tells me when it comes to writing (entirely free). I hope not to offend anyone. And certainly I would not suggest for new poets to use my works as examples. I seldom judge a work by form, or adherence to a particular form -- for me a quality work is a unique voice and point of view. Thank you so much for commenting. Blessings my friend!!
