Fragile Hearts

Feeble souls can make poor decisions without thinking Regretting life altering choices without even blinking About the time winter came she grew delicate and frail Growing farther away and ending up in internal jail Insubstantial hearts can break with such strong ease Love couldn’t save her then she died out in the freeze Even the decrepit are blind to life’s gentle fragility Her thinking she was careful with her morbidity Ethereal love for herself broke her linked chains And even in the end my constant self-pity remains Rivers of vulnerability flows deep within my soul Tenderly and quietly she died with an endless hole Suicide is for the fragile hearts that have taken a toll Fragile Hearts Contest October 14, 2016
