Forty

I disdainfully anticipated its arrival Believing it would compromise survival Surprised how quickly it neared Accompanied by changes, I feared Just as quickly, it passed At it’s insignificance I laughed Now that its forever gone Turning forty again, I long.

Thanks, JAN. Yeah, this one hit close to home while writing it. But, better to have been 40 once than never at all.

Thanks, Barbara. Yes, for years now, I've said that my birthdays do not bother me, it's my children's birthdays that make me feel old.

Thanks, ilene. Unfortunately, 40 is way in my rear view mirror. I think there are a few of us here on PS that know the feeling. I guess its better to have passed 40 than to have never reached her at all.
