I enter the third season of my life approaching my Autumn years I marvel at the shriveled withered leaves as they silently swirl in the wind I see russet, brown and golden ones fall their decay will soon rejuvenate the soil I bend to examine a fallen wrinkled leaf its veins a reminder of aged wizened hands I know my final wish will be granted when I'm scattered like leaves upon the ground 16/4/18

Another one of charm, beauty and truth. Proof, poets, not as some people think, are not aloof. Through autumns hues and more forsooth. Jan, you write heartfelt, this time no spoof. The fading leaves of autumn evoking memories of their youth. Your poetry, your soul exposed, so couth!

So touching, and comforting too! I, a nursing home survivor (!), am deeply moved by this, Jan. I can see where some might interpret it negatively. But I don't. Acceptance, (the 'last stage') requires honest assessment, but also hope for renewal. This wonderful poem offers both, in spades! Beautiful! :) gw

Ah, is this the one you were working on that you said was a bit different? I have to say this is probably my favourite “serious” poem of yours I’ve read. Simple, evocative and touching. A fine piece of poetry, in my humble opinion. X

Although this deals with death, it's a titch comforting...the thought of going the way of leaves in the wind.

I read your poem listening to the song..journey through your words took me to Autumn. Though a feeling of melancholy, I found the vibrancy of Autumn..acceptance of the season.. with all that it offers..great song and metaphor, Jan!
