Forbidding Death

The man growls, forbidding death to take hold, his mate on his arm, flailing in the cold, rushing away from the darkness, the best they could, avoiding death as they should, he wanted her alive, but he would abandon her, if she continued slowing him down, as they headed for hire ground, it’s every man for himself, during the end of days. His skin hardened and black, scars ripped and stained his back, his eyes were deeply set, as he tried heading into safety. The night birds saw them as prey, he looked at his mate without a word to say, he dropped her down and left her behind, but in his heart he really wanted to stay. The cold would consume her, he thought, and death would be the last thing to cross her face, but that wasn’t the case, he went over the mountains, there he met the his doom, he should have stayed with his mate, as the Angels of Heaven poured down and rescued her, as it was her fate, his doom, her faith, his gloom.
