For the Royal Derriere
Royal and regal, adorned in the finest of gold
I am on which kings do so rely
Don’t take me for weak because I might look old
As I am strong and for my king, I would die
I was there in the beginning and ever there still
I bear the words, the decrees, I see it all
When men are honored, I am there still
And when others are punished, I see them fall
Kneel before me, oh yes, you shall do
As I am more than the bloodline, the royal regard
Though soft is my lining, I am the greatest support
I may be so comforting, but also rigid and hard
On days when events are occurring outside
I stand on my balcony to witness the thrills
The victor he bows before me, courtesy
For the loser cannot, as he was just killed
Some say I’m medieval, I say that I’m not
My lines have cleaned up a bit, for the day
My legs don’t move, they’re still, defined
For that reason, I am also on display
I’ve had many a predecessor, a grandfather you’d say
Which would be so identified by the king who shared
But I’m here now and into each morrow
As I hold a queen’s power, of this I swear
