For Only a Moment

Did it have to last for only a moment,
our love withered before the flowers you sent,
white carnations, a pure love they meant,
a relationship so newfound and innocent.

It was my first attempt at the pantoum form. Debbie Guzzi suggested that I give it a try. This form doesn't have to rhyme, but I saw others using it and decided to go that route.
