For I Am Only the Writer
FOR I AM ONLY THE WRITER
for I am only the writer
when using pen on parchment,
in order for me to become
this conveyer of messages sent
so as a result of my handiwork,
that even at the times
when I struggle fiercely so
to grasp a simple message,
or surrender
when trying to understand,
how,
when
and where it came to me,
for I am only the writer
as I sculpt with words
painted pictures from one’s mind,
in fine detail of musical lyrics
from this poetic scribe
that uses a pencil for expression
which I really understand
is a God given talent.
for I am only the writer,
in having a deep satisfaction
when writing with humorous spoof
and a take out the mickey approach
when scribbling down with poetic license,
often then comes
moments of feeling numb
whilst thinking thoughts of happenings past
described in detail,
over and over again.
for I am only the writer
when sometimes I see a certain situation,
then being the owner of interpretation,
frequently refusing to step back or retreat
from using a certain line,
a statement, phrase or a verse
I let each written word stand on its worth
ashamed not I of my contribution to the literature
that I like to scribe to be.
