For Different Reasons

for different reasons Over with games, I now prefer your guts, You’re both sublime and subliming; I’d auction my breath to pay your price-anytime, And the bounce in your age just inflates my bid. As you swing in the storms of forties, And as you dispose your joy to look young, I observe your activity with relentless earnest Because the younger you look, the more I pay. But your sun is soon settling on the horizon, And your hair and beauty are secretly betraying you, You and I will soon loathe and be loathed for looks, When we’ll grow old, wrinkled and pointless. We emerged as heroes in from teenage-hood, Together to the moon and back flew in search for smiles, The world wondered at our speed and innovation, The fans who around us clapped were fair and awed. They’ll stamp around you once you’re fully ripe, Awed by your inertia, they’ll be quiet and orderly, The young will honour the old-in return of favour, A generation will serve another for different reasons. In different emotions.

Thanks for sharing this... exposing your thoughts through your unique poetic style. Meanwhile, I greet you with the love of the Lord, expressed by John 3:16 of the Bible, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." Be blessed.
