Footprints On the Shore

The longest journey is my life spent
hurried times I've traveled, without lament...Poet

I ponder my footprints left in sea sand
they linger like life, for a time, then gone
taken like life by the tide's timeless hand
in seamless circles of dawn after dawn
this continuous theme passes through time
because living and dying are endless
so I count all my days lived as they climb
life has become shorter, my soul restless

Like my footprints, I will be washed away
to be pulled by life's tide into darkness
where nothing remains, nor left to convey
as life will begin with a new canvas
the tide swept away my tracks on the shore
buried by new sand, they will be no more

This poem is beautiful, and so poignant but true. We're only footprints in the sand, as it should be, I suppose. Congrats on your First Place!

Your tracks may be washed away but your beautiful poetry will remain. I really love the melodic lines in this poem with a bit of a melancholy feel to it. Congratulations on your First Place win. I can relate. I am saving this gem to my Faves. Blessings xxoo

Congratulations on this win. A beautiful write. I love the old Footprint Poem. Hate is a waste of time. Let go and let God deal with it. He can do a much better job. I have seen this many times. Have a blessed day/week writing way.................

Frederic, my thoughts on your comparing life to footprints left on the sand are mirrored upon the reflection between them. Both swept away by tide and time. You have a gift for penning emotional truths.
